1. Once you’ve found a stable place for your hat block of choice and have enough room to move around (give yourself about 6-8 feet of space to walk around), make sure you have enough light. The kitchen is a great option, but the best lighting is outdoors on a cloudy day.
SCANNING
2. With your cell phone camera ready to record a video, ensure that it has a high enough resolution to capture the scan. Most phones these days are more than sufficient. 4K is excellent, but 1080p works just as well.
3. Start at the front of the hat block and move in a circular motion, ensuring that the hat block remains centred within the frame.
4. Once you’ve completed one orbit, gently move the phone slightly downward while keeping the hat block centred in the frame. Repeat this process 5 times.
